after a long hiatus i finally was able to work on these projects. heres my post for diet, the concept behind this image is this girl who is so insecure about her body that even though she is physically beautiful she still wants to lose weight, here she goes as far as cutting her hair just because she wants the pounds in the scale to drop. granted she is not ethiopian skinny, but i was also trying out a technique on this piece of rives bfk paper i bought. the results were really satisfying so i decided to take the sketch further and make it a piece for the blog. it was done using coloerase pink pencil with gesso, its also very tiny, 5x6 inches. i was looking at waterhouse and jc leyendecker's "art noveau" years for the line work and handling of the medium. im not very happy with the scan seeing as the colors are much more saturated and theres alot of subtleties on the lips and eyes that are lost. but, oh well.
im gonna see if i can scan it again later with better results, but in the mean time ill stay with this. i would also advice all of you to buy some rives bfk paper, its amazing! it can take anything and not even buckle, its pure cotton paper and very archival. im going to see if i can do all of these projects on this paper in some way or other, it really opens up a new world as far as media exploration.
